Enterprise Alexa Privacy
K4Connect's Privacy Policy Regarding Connected Devices
According to our Privacy Policy, K4Connect does collect data through the connected devices in a resident's home, including Alexa. We only share the Alexa usage data with the community in an aggregated format to help them make data-driven business decisions and improve their services for residents. Communication Features with Opt-Out Options
Resident-to-Resident communication via Alexa is a great feature that many residents love. But, in an effort to help residents maintain control over their privacy, we've added the ability to turn on Do Not Disturb or opt out of the K4Community Directory entirely. Either of these options will prevent other residents from contacting them via Alexa's video and/or voice features.
Amazon's Underlying Privacy Protections
K4Connect's enterprise-managed Alexa devices operate on Amazon's Alexa for Smart Properties framework which offers its own underlying privacy protections. For example, audio streaming only occurs when triggered by the wake-word (by voice or pressing the physical button). Otherwise all other audio is ignored. Also, Alexa performs a "cloud verification" of the wake word using the more powerful processing capabilities of the cloud to double-check the audio to confirm detection of the wake word.
