How do I use K4TV?

Open K4TV

To see K4TV, using your TV remote, switch to the HDMI input that your K4TV device is plugged into. These steps can vary from TV to TV, but generally you want to press "Input" or "Source" repeatedly until you land on the right HDMI channel and click "OK" or "Select". 

Once you're on the K4TV app, use the included Google TV remote to navigate and interact with the on-screen content. 

Log in to K4TV

The first time you open K4TV you'll be presented with two login options:

• QR Code: Scan the on-screen QR code with a mobile device that is already logged in to K4Community Plus. Tap the provided link on your mobile device's screen and this will open the K4Community Plus app revealing a prompt to "share permissions with K4TV".  Select Yes and the prompt screen will close and your K4TV home page will appear. 
• Enter a code: You can also enter a code manually by selecting the text field and typing your code using the on-screen keyboard. The code is generated from the K4Community Team Hub either by community staff or K4Connect Support.

The Home Screen

When you launch K4TV, you’ll land on the Home Screen. On the left, there’s a classic side navigation menu. On the right, you’ll see content tiles like “What’s New,” “Events,” and more where you can navigate with the TV remote (up/down/side-to-side) or jump directly to a section, like Dining, by selecting it in the left-hand menu. 

Live Channel

Selecting Live Channel will show the live content that the community has published to the resident TV channel including slides with announcements and other information as well as scheduled programming such as exercise videos or other entertainment. 

The Live Channel content will also automatically appear if the TV is left on the K4TV app with no inputs for 3 minutes. To return to the app home screen, you can press any button on your remote. 

Videos

The Video Library is your go-to place for all videos published by your community. Select "Videos" in the left hand menu and from here you can browse all content or filter by category.

To view a video simply go to the video thumbnail and select it. From there, you'll see the video you selected as well as other suggested videos below. 

Notices

Selecting the Notices section will show just the announcement content that the community has shared. Select any notice to for more detail. 

What's New

The What's New section highlights the latest updates, including newly uploaded videos and recent announcements from the community. Select any item to watch or read more. 

 

Events

Events are listed in a scrollable format so you can see event details like location, time, and availability. Select an event to see more event details as well as a list of events happening the same day and similar events you might be interested in.

While you can’t sign up for events directly on the TV app (yet), it tells you everything you need to know—like if there are limited spots—so you can register using the K4Community Plus app.

 

Dining

The Dining section gives you a clear, easy-to-read menu for restaurants in your community. Selecting a restaurant allows you to see the menu(s) for that restaurant. Using your remote, you can navigate around the menu to view the available options. 

Menus are designed to look like the real thing—organized, neat, and easy to scroll.

 

Directory

The Directory section allows you to view directories for Residents, Staff, and Family. Same rules of opt-out apply here as in the K4Community Plus app. If a resident has opted out of the Directory, their information will not be visible here.

Selecting a Directory will present you with a grid of all the profiles including the profile picture if one is provided. Select a profile to see more detail for that person. 

Browsing is easy with your remote and there's a handy “scroll to top” button to keep you from having to manually scroll back if you're deep in the list. 

Search

With the Search feature, you can search K4TV for people and events. Just type in a keyword like “yoga” and you'll see relevant results from both contacts and events. For instance, you'll see Yoga and other wellness-related events as well as Directory results of anyone who mentioned yoga in their biography. 

Select a result to view all the details.

 

Settings

In Settings you can log out of K4TV. Just select Logout and confirm. You'll be returned to the login page with the QR code to scan to log back in.
