How to control Smart Home devices using K4Communtiy Plus

Any K4Community smart home devices can be operated from the K4Community Plus app. 

To operate smart home devices: 

  1. Go to Home Controls
    1. On mobile go to MoreHome Controls
    2. On web, Home Controls is in the left panel
  2. Go to Devices 
    1. On mobileDevices is the default view
    2. On web click on Devices

Devices are organized by device type. The room the device is located in is noted under the device name.

Lights

There are two basic kinds of lights. Switches and Dimmers

 

To operate a Switch, tap the toggle button to turn on and off.

 

 


To operate a Dimmer use the slider to indicate how bright or dim you would like the light to be.

Far left is off or 0% percent brightness and far right is 100% brightness. 

 

 

Thermostats

To operate a thermostat, click on the device you want to change. All of the available settings will be presented on screen.

Mode

Heat: The system will heat your home to the selected setpoint if the temperature falls below the setpoint.
Cool: The system will cool your home to the selected setpoint if the temperature rises above the setpoint.
Auto: The system will switch between heat and cool modes to keep your home's temperature between the selected range. The heat and cool setpoints must be at least 3 degrees apart. 
Magic: Like Auto mode, the system will switch between heat and cool keep your home's temperature at the selected setpoint. But instead of selecting two setpoints (Heat and Cool) you only need to select one setpoint. 
Off: The system will neither heat nor cool your home
 
 
Depending on the mode selected, the options for setting the temperature setpoint will change. To adjust the setpoint, click the plus (+) or minus (-) buttons to increase or decrease the setpoint.

 

 

 

System status

Above the temperature setpoint, you'll see a system status indicating whether the system is heating, cooling, waiting, idle, or off. 

  • Heating: The system is actively heating your home
  • Cooling: The system is actively cooling your home
  • Wait: The system is switching between heating and cooling modes. Thermostats have a built-in wait time (2-5 minutes) when switching between modes to help decrease strain on the compressor.
  • Idle: The system is not off but is not actively heating or cooling your home.
  • Off: The system is off and will not heat or cool your home.
