How to pair the Alfred door lock using K4Ops

❗️DO NOT pair the lock with the Alfred app. Discard the included consumer guide and follow the below pairing instructions

Connecting the Alfred Lock to a K4 Smart Home system consists of two steps:

  1. Z-Wave pairing to the K4 controller (for resident control)
  2. Bluetooth pairing to K4Ops (for staff access)

Both operations are done in the K4Ops application.

Z-Wave Pairing

Before beginning:

  • Ensure the device battery is charged to 100%
    • By law, Alfred ships their door lock batteries at 70% or lower and they recommend fully charging the battery before use
  • Make sure the Latest K4Ops has been installed
  • Make sure the optional Z-Wave module is installed in the lock

In the K4Ops App:

  1. Go the “Install a Room” section of K4Ops
  2. Choose the correct community and room. If the lock is already in the room model, skip to step 4
  3. If the lock does not appear in the room model:
    1. Click the + button > Add Device
    2. Choose Group: Locks > Device: Alfred DB2-B Lock > select the room the device is in
    3. Give the device a name such as "Front Door"
    4. Click "Add Device" to continue
  4. Click on the Lock in the device list and follow the on-screen instructions to pair the device
  5. Skip the Unpair step by clicking the "Next" button
  6. On the device:
    1. Enter the default master code of **12345678# to enter setup mode.
      • You'll be prompted to update the master code to something more unique - make sure to document the new code somewhere to remember it
    2. Press 8 to enter Network Settings
    3. Press 1 to start pairing

Once the device is paired, click Next and follow the remaining on-screen steps to test all devices in the room and save the changes to the controller.

Other door lock options can be found here in the programming guide.

Note: If you're adding the lock to a room that has already been installed, you can call K4 Support at (855) 876-9673 for remote pairing to avoid repeating the tests for all devices in the room

Bluetooth Pairing

Before beginning Bluetooth pairing:

  • Make sure the Latest K4Ops has been installed
  • Be within 3 ft. of the device
  • Put the device in Power Save mode by touching the keypad to wake the device > enter the master code > press 7 > press 2
    • The device will say "Disable Bluetooth" but this means it's entering Power Save mode. Refer to page 7 of the Programming Instructions for more detail

In the K4Ops App:

  1. Go to the Lock Manager section of K4Ops
  2. Choose the correct community
  3. Click the + button > Register Lock
  4. Select the lock by serial number in the list of Nearby Locks
  5. Enter a unique name for the lock. (ex. “Room 101 Front Door”)
  6. Wake the device by tapping anywhere on the keypad. The keypad will illuminate when the device is awake
  7. In the K4Ops app, enter the master code (numbers only, without the ** and #) and click Save
  8. Return to Lock Manager and select the room you just registered and make sure you can remotely lock and unlock the door successfully. If you're having trouble with this step, try closing the K4Ops app and relaunching to try again.
