Netsmart Integration: Requirements and Implementation Guide
A Netsmart integration through K4Connect is a straightforward, security-conscious process designed to ensure reduced workload for staff, seamless synchronization between systems while respecting healthcare data privacy. Below is a comprehensive overview of the key benefits, requirements, and the expected implementation timeline.
Key Benefits
- Automated Census Syncing: After full integration, census data from Netsmart will sync directly with platforms such as K4Community, ensuring that resident information is always up to date.
- Enhanced Data Accuracy: Real-time validation of resident changes like admits, discharges, moves, and care setting adjustments helps maintain data integrity across systems.
- User Matching and Management: Existing users from K4 are mapped to their counterparts in Netsmart, reducing duplication and enabling efficient user oversight.
- Improved Operational Workflow: Integration supports Assisted Living, Independent Living, Memory Care, Skilled Nursing, and Home Care, aligning operations across all care levels.
Requirements
-
Enablement Appointments: Schedule two half-hour sessions with the K4Connect integrations team, spaced roughly one week apart. Due to the presence of Protected Health Information (PHI) in the Netsmart system, your HIPAA administrator or other authorized system administrator must attend the second appointment.
-
Fusion Dashboard Access: K4 will provide secure login credentials for your Fusion dashboard.
-
Netsmart Account Information: The K4 Integrations team will need information from your Netsmart account such as Key, User, Path, Port, Server URL, and Filename.
-
Care Setting Values: Share any applicable classification values used in your systems (e.g., Assisted Care, Independent Living, Memory Care, Skilled Nursing, and Home Care, etc.).

-
Data validation is performed by K4 to ensure that changes in resident status and settings are accurately mirrored.
-
-
Second Enablement Appointment:
-
Final setup and connection of Netsmart to K4Community and other platforms are completed ensuring reduced staff hours of inputting repeat data and increased data accuracy between systems.
-
The integration is tested by K4 to confirm that census data remains synchronized moving forward.
