Understanding the Insights Dashboard
The Insights dashboard gives staff a high-level view of how residents are engaging with your community's digital services. By collecting and displaying key usage metrics, Insights helps you measure participation, identify trends, and make informed decisions about communication, programming, and resident engagement.
You can access the dashboard by navigating to Reports > Insights in Team Hub. Most data cards allow you to customize the reporting period by selecting a different date range using the calendar icon.
Why Use Insights?
The Insights dashboard helps your community answer questions such as:
- Are residents actively using the community app?
- Which events generate the most interest?
- How often is new content being published?
- Which features do residents use the most?
- How quickly are Resident Check-In alerts being resolved?
Reviewing these metrics regularly can help improve resident engagement, optimize communication strategies, and identify opportunities for operational improvement.
Engagement Metrics
The Engagement section measures how residents interact with the K4Community platform.
Residents Onboarded
This metric shows the percentage of residents who have accepted an invitation to access the K4Community Plus App or the community web portal.
A higher percentage indicates successful resident onboarding and broader adoption of the platform. Archived residents are not included in this calculation.
Daily Interactions per Resident
This card displays the average number of daily interactions each resident has with the platform over the previous 30 days, along with a comparison to the preceding 30-day period.
Interactions include activity across supported platforms such as:
- Mobile app
- Web portal
- Voice devices
An interaction is counted when a resident opens or actively uses the platform. Monitoring this trend helps determine whether resident engagement is increasing or decreasing over time.
Average Posts per Day
This metric tracks how much new content staff are publishing each day.
Posts may include:
- Announcements
- Events
- Dining menus
- Feed content
Consistently publishing fresh content helps keep residents informed and encourages continued use of the platform.
Active Residents
This chart shows the number of residents who have interacted with the app or voice services at least once during each week over the last 90 days.
Reviewing this trend can help determine whether overall participation is growing or identify periods when engagement may have declined.
Content Metrics
The Content section provides insight into the information residents consume most frequently.
Most Popular Features
This report ranks the areas of the K4Community app that residents use most often during the selected reporting period.
Understanding which features receive the most traffic can help prioritize future communications and content placement.
Most Popular Events
This report ranks events based on the number of resident sign-ups, using a 90-day reporting window by default.
Popular events can provide insight into resident interests and help staff plan future programming around activities that generate the highest participation.
Published to Feed
This chart summarizes the types of content published each week, allowing staff to understand how frequently different content categories are being published to the K4Community Plus app.
Examples include Announcements, Dining Information, and Events.
Resident Check-In (RCI) Alerts
Time to Clear
This card reports the number of Resident Check-In alerts generated each week and the average amount of time taken to resolve them.
Monitoring this metric can help improve response processes and ensure alerts are addressed promptly.
Most Alerts
This card shows the rooms that had the most RCI alerts over the last 90 days.
This data can help maintenance teams identify rooms that may need smart home system maintenance or other intervention to decrease check-in alerts
Smart Home
The Smart Home section provides insight into how residents interact with connected home technology. These metrics help communities understand whether residents are manually controlling their environment or benefiting from automated smart home features.
Lighting
This chart shows the number of times smart home lights were activated automatically by motion detection or with a remote control.
Reviewing this data helps staff understand how residents are using their lighting system and whether automated lighting features are being utilized.
Thermostat
This chart compares the number of times residents manually adjusted their thermostat with the number of times the K4Community Smart Home system automatically adjusted the temperature.
Automatic temperature changes occur when Smart Home scenes or automations are configured to adjust the thermostat at specific times or under specific conditions. If no automation scenes have been created, the automatic category will not display data.
Comparing manual and automated adjustments can help communities evaluate resident adoption of Smart Home automation and identify opportunities to create additional scenes that improve comfort and energy efficiency.
Alexa
The Alexa section provides analytics on resident engagement with K4Community Voice through Alexa-enabled devices. These reports help communities measure device adoption, understand how residents interact with voice services, and evaluate the effectiveness of voice-based communications.
Devices
This metric compares the number of Alexa devices that invoked the K4Community skill with the total number of Alexa devices in the community.
Monitoring this metric provides a quick view of how widely residents are using K4Community Voice features on their Alexa devices.
Active Devices
This chart displays the number of Alexa devices that are used at all per day including but not limited to the K4Community skills.
Daily activity trends can help identify increases or decreases in resident engagement with voice services over time.
Top Domains
This report shows the business domains that generated the highest level of engagement across Alexa devices.
Business domains represent categories of resident requests, allowing communities to understand which types of voice interactions are most commonly initiated.
Number of Dialogs
This metric reports the total number of Alexa conversations (dialogs) across all devices.
Tracking dialog volume helps measure overall resident interaction with K4Community Voice and provides insight into how frequently residents rely on Alexa to access community information and services.
Dialogs by Business Domain
This report breaks down Alexa dialogs by business domain, showing which categories of requests residents use most frequently.
Understanding the most popular domains can help staff prioritize content updates and improve the voice experience in the areas residents access most often.
Devices by Business Domain
This report displays the number of active Alexa devices within each business domain.
Comparing activity across domains helps identify which voice-enabled services are reaching the greatest number of residents.
Communications Actions
This metric measures resident engagement actions across Alexa devices.
Data is displayed only when at least 10 Alexa devices are active during a given day, ensuring that reported information represents meaningful aggregated usage.
Communications Duration
This chart reports the total duration of resident engagement actions, measured in minutes.
Like Alexa Actions Devices, this report requires at least 10 active Alexa devices on a given day before data is displayed. Tracking engagement duration can help communities understand how extensively residents are interacting with voice services.
Campaign Devices
This metric shows the number of Alexa devices that were targeted by voice campaigns. (Echo Show only)
Campaign reporting allows communities to measure the reach of voice-based announcements and other targeted communications. Data is available only when at least 10 devices are active during the day.
Campaign Interactions
This report displays the number of times residents tapped on an Alexa campaign card after receiving a campaign (Echo Show only).
Monitoring campaign interactions helps evaluate resident engagement with voice-based communications and the effectiveness of campaign content. Like the other campaign reports, data is shown only when at least 10 active Alexa devices are present on that day.
Summary
The Insights dashboard transforms everyday platform activity into meaningful analytics that help staff better understand resident engagement. By monitoring usage trends, content performance, event participation, and Resident Check-In metrics, communities can make more informed decisions that enhance both resident experiences and operational efficiency.
