What is an Audience and why does it matter?

It's important not to create unnecessary noise in the app when sharing content. This is where the Audience feature comes in. When publishing content using the Post Manager, you'll have the option to choose an Audience which allows you to share the content as broadly or as narrowly as you wish.

This consists of choosing one or more Resident Groups and one or more of the following: Resident App, Friends and Family App, Voice.

  • The default setting is Resident App, but you may opt to deselect it because it's content or information that is only pertinent to Friends and Family. For example, some paperwork or community guide that is directed toward them. If the Resident App option is selected, only residents assigned to the resident group(s) you choose will be able to see the post in their app.
  • If you select Friends and Family App, only the friends and family of residents in the resident group you chose will be able to see the post.
  • If you select Voice, the same resident group rules apply and when asked for Notices or Announcements Alexa will read the Title, Author, and Description fields aloud.
