Your community staff can program up to 10 phone numbers at the community that can be called by using your Alexa device.
If you're having trouble making a call to a community phone number, make sure to:
- Confirm the number has been added to the Alexa directory by staff. If the number hasn't been added to the list of callable numbers by your community staff, Alexa will not be able to make the call.
- Say the name of the location the way it appears in the Alexa directory. For instance, if the name of the location is Front Desk, but you say "Call reception." Alexa will not understand and won't be able to make the call.
- Confirm your Alexa device is plugged in and online. The Alexa uses VOIP (voice over internet protocol) to make the call to the other Alexa devices. If your device is not connected to the internet, it won't be able to make the call. Check the connection by asking something like "What's the weather?". If she's not connected, she'll let you know.
- Confirm your device is not on mute. If the Alexa has a constant red ring or light and the mute button is illuminated red, the device is muted and will not receive any commands. To unmute, press the mute button. Here's an article with more on what the different color lights mean for Alexa.
