K4Community Plus is available both as a web application and as a mobile app. Residents can access Plus on the web at k4community.com or download the mobile app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
There are several ways a resident can log in to K4Community Plus, and the exact process can vary depending on whether you're using the web or mobile version of the app.
The Standard Login Process
The standard way for a resident to log in is to enter the email address associated with your K4Community profile.
If the email address you enter matches the email address on your K4Community profile, K4Community will send a 6-digit activation code to that email address.
Enter the 6-digit code into the app to continue.
What happens next depends on which version of Plus app you're using.
Logging In on the Web
When logging in through the web, after entering the activation code successfully, you'll be prompted to create an email address and password combination.
Once these credentials have been created, you can use them to log in to K4Community Plus on any other device, including the web application and mobile app.
Your login email does not have to match your K4Community profile email.
The email address you use to create your Plus app login credentials does not have to be the same email address stored on your K4Community profile.
For example:
- Your K4Community profile has: firstname@email.com
- You enter firstname@email.com on the Plus login page and K4 sends a 6-digit activation code to that address.
- After entering the code, you create your Plus app login credentials using:
- Login email: lastname@myemail.com
- Password: Your chosen password
Your Plus app login credentials are now lastname@myemail.com and the password you created.
The email address on your K4Community profile is used to verify your identity and obtain the activation code. It does not necessarily become your Plus app login email.
Logging In on the Mobile App
The mobile login process is slightly different.
After entering the email address associated with your K4Community profile and receiving a 6-digit activation code, simply enter the code into the mobile app.
You do not need to create an email and password combination when logging in through the mobile app.
Once the activation code is accepted in the mobile app, you are logged in with no additional actions needed.
This means a resident may use an activation code to access the mobile app without ever creating a traditional email-and-password login.
Getting an Activation Code From K4 Support or Community Staff
Not every resident has an email address associated with their K4Community profile. To accommodate residents who do not have an email address on their profile, a 6-digit activation code can be generated by K4Connect Support or by authorized on-site staff with access to K4Community Team Hub.
The activation code generated through Team Hub works the same way as a code that is emailed to the resident.
The resident can enter the code into the Plus app mobile or web app to authenticate.
FAQs
Why does the web app say my email isn't recognized?
This is one of the more confusing situations that can occur when using K4Community Plus.
A resident may be successfully logged into the Plus mobile app but then enter their email address on the web application and receive a message saying that the email isn't recognized.
This can happen when the resident originally received an activation code that was generated manually through Team Hub rather than emailed to them.
For example:
- A resident does not have an email address on their K4Community profile.
- A staff member generates a 6-digit activation code through Team Hub.
- The resident uses that code to log into the Plus mobile app.
- Later, the resident goes to k4community.com and enters their personal email address.
- The system says the email address isn't recognized.
This is expected behavior.
The email address entered on the web login page must be associated with the resident's K4Community profile in order for the system to send an activation code automatically.
Being successfully logged into the mobile app does not necessarily mean that the email address the resident uses personally is stored on their K4Community profile.
What if a resident logs out of the mobile app?
The same situation can occur if a resident logs out of the mobile app.
If the resident originally logged in using an activation code generated through Team Hub, and their email address is not stored on their K4Community profile, they may return to the login screen and enter their email address only to receive an "email not recognized" message.
There are two ways to resolve this:
Option A: Add the resident's email address to their profile
An authorized staff member can add the resident's email address to their K4Community profile.
Once the email address is associated with the profile, the resident can enter that email address on the Plus login screen and receive an activation code by email.
Option B: Generate another activation code
A K4Connect Support representative or authorized staff member with access to Team Hub can generate another 6-digit activation code for the resident.
The resident can use that code to log back into Plus.
What is the recommended login method for residents using both web and mobile?
If a resident plans to use K4Community Plus on both the web and mobile apps, we recommend completing the login process on the web application first.
The recommended process is:
- Go to k4community.com.
- Enter the email address associated with your K4Community profile or have a 6-digit code generated by Support or on-site staff
- Enter the 6-digit activation code.
- Create an email address and password combination when prompted.
- Use those credentials to log into K4Community Plus on your other preferred devices.
This approach creates a consistent set of login credentials that can be used across both the web and mobile applications.
Can a resident have more than one login email?
Yes. Though it is unlikely to happen, it is possible.
A resident can potentially create multiple sets of Plus login credentials for the same K4Community profile.
For example:
- The resident has firstname@email.com on their K4Community profile.
- They enter that email address and receive an activation code.
- They use the code to create Plus app credentials with lastname@myemail.com.
- Later, they return to the login page and enter firstname@email.com again.
- They receive another activation code.
- They could then create another set of Plus credentials using firstname@email.com.
This results in the resident having two sets of valid Plus app credentials that refer to the same K4 profile.
This generally does not cause a problem, but it can create confusion for the resident if they don't realize that the email used to receive the activation code and the email used for their Plus app login credentials can be different.
Key Things to Remember
- K4Community Plus is available on the web and as a mobile app.
- The web application is available at k4community.com.
- The mobile app is available through the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
- A 6-digit activation code is required to authenticate a resident.
- The activation code can be emailed to the resident when the email address matches their K4Community profile.
- Authorized staff or K4Connect Support can also generate an activation code through Team Hub.
- Mobile app: Entering the activation code is all that's required to log in.
- Web app: After entering the activation code, residents are prompted to create an email and password combination for login.
- The email used to create Plus app login credentials does not have to match the email on the K4Community profile.
- A resident can potentially have multiple Plus app login credentials associated with the same profile.
- If a resident gets an "email not recognized" message, it means the email address they entered isn't associated with their K4Community profile.
- For residents using both web and mobile, logging in through the web first is recommended so they can establish reusable email-and-password credentials.
