Smart Home
Overview
K4Community Smart Home creates comfortable, high-end living environments tailored to improve the daily lives of older adults and increase the value of senior living community residences.
Dignified Living
Residents of all ages and acuity can enjoy smart home features. Our automated Resident Check-In solution is centered around resident safety that suits their lifestyle, not another task for them to remember. Unlike traditional check-in methods requiring residents to pull a cord or push a button, residents simply move about the home and our motion-sensing devices confirm this “check” behind-the-scenes.
Caregiver Awareness
Automated Resident Check-In brings enhanced visibility and coverage for community staff. Through automated daily reporting, staff receive confirmation of resident activity and instantly know when a resident may need to be checked on. Mobile-compatibility also allows staff to complete these checks even when they’re on the go. This added coverage helps with risk management while saving staff members valuable time.

Frequently Asked Questions
If a resident unplugs the Home Hub accidentally, how will I know?
We recommend that the controllers are located in a low trafficked area, decreasing the chance of this occurring. However, if this does happen then it will be reported on your Daily Device Report. The controller will reboot as soon as it’s reconnected to power.
What happens if my community loses power or if the wifi goes down?
Devices will still operate manually and will attempt to reconnect to the system when the WiFi connection is repaired. If the devices do not reconnect automatically, please contact K4Support.
Are there automation options for Smart Home devices?
Absolutely. Automation settings are referred to as “scenes”. For example, if a residence is equipped with Motion Dimmer lights, the light(s) can be programmed to turn on automatically at 25% from the hours of 8 pm to 8 am. To explore scene options, please contact our Support Team.
